Jules is making great progress. He is no longer afraid of the dark thanks to his magic lamp.
But he still has one problem: nightmares.
Every night, he wakes up with a start. His heart is beating fast.
"I have to find a solution!" he told himself.
Jules has an idea. He's going to create a machine that helps him have sweet dreams.
He notes in his notebook:
- Create a calm atmosphere.
- Play soft sounds.
- Think of good memories.

Jules gathers materials in his workshop. He takes a plastic box, a motion sensor, a small speaker and an electronic board.
He spends the afternoon putting everything together.

He programs his Dream Machine:
If I move too much = soft music.
If I breathe quickly = sounds of nature.
In the evening, Jules falls peacefully asleep.
He has a strange dream. A monster approaches. His heart races...

The machine starts up! Soft music rises. He hears the birds and the waves.
The monster disappears. Jules finds himself at the seaside.
He succeeded!

In the morning, Jules understands something important: you cannot control your dreams, but you can influence them.
Tonight, before going to sleep, he thinks about a great adventure.
That night, he slept even better.
Jules has made a lot of progress. Thanks to his magic lamp, he's no longer afraid of the dark in his room. His noise detector lets him know exactly what's happening at night.
Everything should be better… and yet, there is still a problem.
Even if he falls asleep reassured, he still has nightmares.
Strange shadows, disturbing noises, unpleasant sensations that wake him with a start.
Every night, he wakes up with his heart pounding, and it takes him a long time to fall back asleep.
"I have to find a solution!" he told himself.
But how do you stop a nightmare?
Jules racked his brains.
— I cannot control my dreams… but perhaps I can influence them!
He decides to create a machine that helps him have sweet dreams.
He jots down his ideas in his notebook:
-Create a calming atmosphere.
-Play soft sounds while he sleeps.
-Recalling good memories before going to sleep.

He imagines a special machine: a box that captures his movements and plays soothing sounds when he moves too much in his sleep.
— If I have a nightmare, the machine will help me calm down and dream of beautiful things!
Jules rummages through his workshop and gathers materials.
He retrieves a plastic box, a motion sensor taken from an old video game, a small speaker and an electronic board to program the sounds.
He spends the afternoon assembling everything, testing and adjusting every detail.

When everything is ready, he places the box near his bed and programs it:
-If I move too much = soft music.
-If my breathing becomes rapid = sounds of nature.
Everything is ready! Tonight, he's testing his Dream Machine!
Jules falls peacefully asleep.
His machine remains silent… until he starts to stir in his sleep.

He has a strange dream. A monster with glowing eyes approaches.
He feels his heart racing…
Suddenly, the machine starts up.
Soft music rises in the room.
The sound of birds. The sound of waves.
The monster moves away…
Jules relaxes and his dream changes. He finds himself by the sea, under a bright sun.

He succeeded!
Early in the morning, Jules notes down his observations.
His machine works, but it can't prevent ALL nightmares. Sometimes he still wakes up. He also needs to learn how to calm his mind before going to sleep.
— I can't just rely on my machine… I also need to think about nice things before I fall asleep!
Jules understands one essential thing: you cannot control your dreams, but you can influence them.
Tonight, before going to sleep, he decides to think about a great adventure he would like to experience.
And that night, he slept even better.
Jules has made a lot of progress since he started facing his fears. Thanks to his magic lamp that he made himself, he's no longer afraid of the dark in his room. Shadows no longer frighten him. His noise detector lets him know exactly what's happening at night. Every creak has an explanation.
Everything should be better… and yet, there is still one problem that is bothering him.
Even if he falls asleep reassured, even if his room is well lit and he understands all the noises around him, he still has nightmares.
Strange shadows that pursue him, disturbing noises that echo in his head, unpleasant sensations that wake him with a start in the middle of the night.
Every night, he wakes up abruptly, his heart pounding in his chest, and it takes him a long time to fall back asleep. He lies in bed with his eyes wide open, trying to calm his breathing.
"I have to find a solution!" he said to himself one morning after a difficult night.
But how do you stop a nightmare? How do you fight something that's happening inside your own head?
Jules racks his brains all day long. He thinks in class, during recess, on the way home.
"I can't control my dreams... but maybe I can influence them!" he finally told himself.
That's a brilliant idea! If he can't stop nightmares from happening, maybe he can turn them into beautiful dreams.
He decides to create a machine that helps him have sweet dreams. A real dream machine!
As soon as he gets home, he goes up to his room and writes down his ideas in his inventor's notebook:
-Create a calming atmosphere in the room.
-Play soft sounds while he sleeps.
-Recalling good memories before going to sleep.
-Transforming nightmares into beautiful dreams.

He envisions a special machine: a smart box that captures his movements during the night and plays soothing sounds when he moves too much in his sleep. That way, even during a nightmare, the machine will help him calm down.
"If I have a nightmare, the machine will detect that I am moving a lot and will help me calm down so I can dream of beautiful things!" he explains to his cat who is watching him from the bed.
Jules searches his workshop and gathers all the necessary equipment.
He retrieves a plastic box that was used to store toys, a motion sensor taken from an old, broken video game, a small speaker salvaged from an old radio, and an electronic circuit board for programming sounds. He also finds wires, adhesive tape, and batteries.
He spends the whole afternoon assembling the parts. He connects the motion sensor to the circuit board. He attaches the speaker inside the box. He solders some wires with his dad's help. He tests each connection to make sure everything works properly.

It's meticulous and difficult work, but Jules doesn't get discouraged. He adjusts, he repairs, he starts again when it doesn't work.
Finally, after several hours of work, everything is ready!
He places the box near his bed, on his nightstand, and carefully programs it:
- If I move too much in my sleep = the machine plays soft music.
- If my breathing becomes rapid = the machine emits soothing sounds.
He records his favorite sounds into the machine: the sound of birds in the morning, the sound of waves at the beach, the wind in the trees, a sweet melody on the piano.
Everything isReady! Tonight, he's going to test his Dream Machine for the first time!
In the evening, Jules brushes his teeth, puts on his pajamas and slips under his duvet. He checks one last time that his washing machine is on and falls peacefully asleep.
At first, his machine remained silent. Jules slept calmly, without moving.
But in the middle of the night, he begins to stir in his sleep. His legs move. His forehead creases.

He has a strange dream. A monster with glowing eyes approaches him in a dark corridor. The monster grows and grows. Jules wants to run, but he can't move.
He felt his heart race in his chest. His breathing became rapid…
Suddenly, the machine starts up!
Soft music rises in the room, a calm and comforting melody.
Then comes the song of the birds, like a spring morning. The sound of waves rolling on the sand.
In his dream, Jules hears these sounds. The monster begins to move away, as if frightened by the music. The dark corridor transforms.
Jules relaxes. His muscles loosen. His breathing becomes calm again.
His dream changes completely. The corridor disappears. He finds himself by the sea, under a bright, shining sun. The sand is warm beneath his feet. Waves lap at the shore. Birds fly in the blue sky.

He did it! His machine transformed his nightmare into a beautiful dream!
The next morning, Jules woke up with a smile. He had slept much better!
He takes out his notebook and writes down all his observations from the night.
His machine works, that's for sure. But he notices that it can't prevent ALL nightmares. Sometimes, despite the soothing sounds, he still wakes up. The machine helps, but it doesn't do all the work.
He must also learn to calm his mind before sleeping, to chase away bad thoughts from his head.
"I can't just rely on my machine... I also have to think about beautiful things before I go to sleep!" he realizes.
Jules understands one essential thing: you can't control your dreams like you control a machine, but you can influence them. You can prepare your mind to have beautiful dreams.
That evening, before turning off the light, he decided to think about a great adventure he would like to experience. He imagined himself as an explorer in the jungle, as an astronaut in space, as a pirate on a ship.
He lets his imagination wander towards joyful and exciting things.
And that night, with his machine near him and beautiful thoughts in his head, he slept even better than before.
The nightmares don't disappear completely, but they are less frequent. And when they do happen, Jules now knows how to deal with them.
