Jules invented objects to help him be less afraid of the dark.
But he still doesn't like walking down the dark hallway.
"I need to train!" he said.
He prepares his explorer's kit: a flashlight, a map of the house and a notebook.

Tonight is the big departure!
Jules turns off his magic lamp. Everything is black. He breathes calmly.
— I can do it.
He gets up and touches his chair with his fingertips. He walks slowly towards the door.
The corridor is very dark. Jules takes one step, then another.

Suddenly, a noise! His heart is beating fast.
He listens well. That's his cat!
Jules smiles and strokes the soft fur.

— Are you exploring too?
He continues on to the kitchen. He drinks some water. He is proud!

On the way back, Jules walks calmly. He feels strong.
In his bed, he writes in his notebook:
"I walked through the house in the dark. I used my hands and my ears. The dark is less frightening."
Jules falls asleep happy. The dark is no longer his enemy. It's a playground for exploration!
Jules has made great progress in overcoming his fear of the dark. His magic lamp illuminates his room with a soft light. His sound detector allows him to recognize every sound. His dream machine helps him when he has nightmares.
However, one detail still bothers him: he doesn't like moving around in the dark.
Walking around his room in the dark? He can do that. But crossing the dark corridor or going to get a glass of water alone still seems frightening to him.
— I can't always rely on my inventions. I also have to practice!
It's decided: he's going to learn to tame the dark, like a true nocturnal explorer.
He opens his notebook and writes down his new challenge:
MISSION: BECOME A NIGHT EXPLORER
Goals :
-Walking in the dark without being afraid
-Recognizing places and objects in the dark
-Find landmarks to move around safely
To prepare, he makes a night explorer's kit:
-A flashlight, which he will only use in case of emergency
-A map of the house, showing the places he needs to go
-A notebook of observations, where he notes what he feels

Tonight, he's going on a mission!
Night falls. Jules turns off his magic lamp and remains seated on his bed.
Everything is dark, but he takes a few moments to let his eyes adjust.
It's deeply inspiring.
— I can do it.
He gets up slowly and moves forward tentatively.
First obstacle: his chair. He touches it with his fingertips and remembers where it is placed. He learns to move around without seeing everything.
He continues towards the door and opens it.
The corridor seemed immense to him, even darker than his room. But he resisted the urge to turn on the light or take out his flashlight.

He takes one step, then another…
Suddenly, a noise rings out. Jules freezes.
A scratching sound. A light breath. His heart beats faster.
But he takes a deep breath and listens.
— That noise… I know it.
He concentrates. It's his cat!
Jules smiled. Before, he would have panicked. Now, he analyzes.

He reaches out and feels soft fur beneath his fingers. His cat purrs softly.
— Hey there. Are you also doing a nighttime exploration?
He laughed softly and continued on his way.
Step by step, he arrives in the kitchen. He opens the fridge and takes a sip of water, proud of himself.

Then he retraces his steps. This time, he walks more calmly, more confidently.
When he gets back to his bed, he writes in his notebook:
"I managed to get through the house without light. I used my other senses to find my way. I'm starting to find the dark... less frightening."
Tonight, he falls asleep more peacefully than ever.
Darkness is no longer his enemy. It is a terrain for exploration.
Jules has made great progress in his fight against the fear of the dark. His magic lamp illuminates his room with a soft, reassuring light. His sound detector allows him to recognize every sound and understand what's happening around him. Even his dream machine helps him calm down when he has nightmares.
However, one last detail still bothers him: he still doesn't like moving around in the dark.
Walking around his room in the dark? He can do that now. But crossing the dark hallway or going to the kitchen to get a glass of water alone still seems frightening. Something is holding him back.
"I can't always rely on my inventions," he said to himself one morning. "I also have to train myself!"
He's decided: he's going to learn to tame the dark, like a true nocturnal explorer. His machines are formidable tools, but he also wants to develop his own courage.
He opens his inventor's notebook and writes his new challenge in capital letters:
MISSION: BECOME A NIGHT EXPLORER
Goals :
- Walking in the dark without being afraid
- Recognizing places and objects in the dark
- Find landmarks to move around safely
- Using all my senses to explore
To prepare for this mission, he puts together a complete night explorer kit:
- A flashlight, which he will only use in a genuine emergency
- A detailed map of the house, showing the places he needs to go
- A notebook of observations, where he notes what he feels at each stage

He even adds some advice he found in his books:
“True explorers use all their senses. Not just their eyes. They listen. They touch. They smell. They observe.”
Tonight, he's going on a mission!
Night falls gently on the house. Jules turns off his magic lamp and remains seated on his bed, motionless.
Everything is dark around him, but he takes a few moments to let his eyes adjust to the darkness. Little by little, he begins to distinguish shapes: his desk, his wardrobe, the window.
He takes a deep breath, as he has learned.
"I can do it," he murmured.
He gets up slowly and moves forward tentatively, his hands outstretched in front of him.
First obstacle: his chair. He touches it with his fingertips and remembers exactly where it is. He carefully goes around the obstacle. He is learning to move around without seeing everything, trusting his memory and his sense of touch.
He continues towards the door and opens it carefully.

The hallway seemed immense to him, much darker than his room. Shadows danced on the walls. But he resisted the urge to turn on the light or take his flashlight from his pocket.
— No. I want to try it alone first.
He takes a cautious step, then another…
Suddenly, a noise resounds in the silence. Jules freezes on the spot.
A light scratching. A breath. Something is moving in the darkness.
His heart beats faster. His hands become sweaty. The urge to run to the light switch is strong.
But he takes a deep breath and forces his body to remain still. He listens attentively.
— That noise… I know it, he realizes.
He focuses on the sound. He analyzes it as he would analyze an invention.
It's her cat! The characteristic purring, the rubbing of its paws on the parquet floor.
Jules smiled in the dark. Before, he would have panicked and run towards the light. Now, hecalmly analyze the situation.
He gently reaches out and feels soft, warm fur beneath his fingers. His cat purrs even louder.
— Hey there. Are you doing a nighttime exploration too? he whispers.

He chuckled softly and stroked the animal for a few seconds. This unexpected encounter gave him courage. He wasn't alone after all.
He continues along the corridor, more confident now.
Step by step, mentally counting his movements, he finally arrives in the kitchen.
The moon dimly illuminates the room through the window. Jules can make out the outlines of the fridge, the table, the chairs.
He opens the fridge. The light dazzles him for a moment. He takes a sip of cool water, proud of himself. He did it!

Then he closes the door and retraces his steps.
This time, the journey seems easier. He walks more calmly, more confidently. He now knows the distances. He knows where to turn. He recognizes the textures under his feet.
The black seems less threatening to him. It becomes familiar.
When he gets back to his bed, he turns on his small bedside lamp and carefully writes in his notebook:
"Nighttime exploration: SUCCESS!"
I managed to cross the house in the dark. I used my other senses to find my way: touch, hearing, even smell. I recognized my cat just by the sound. I'm starting to find the dark… less frightening. Even a little interesting.
Next step: start over so it becomes easy.
Tonight, he falls asleep more peacefully than ever, his magic lamp turned off.
Darkness is no longer his enemy. It has become a terrain for exploration, a space to discover, a challenge to overcome.
Jules understood something important: courage is not about never being afraid. It's about moving forward despite fear.
