Reading difficulty

Jules closes his notebook. He's happy! Before, he was afraid of the dark. Now, he's not afraid anymore.

Tonight, he looks out the window. He sees Theo's room, his friend. Jules smiles. He takes the secret basket attached to a string between the two rooms.

He writes on a piece of paper: "Night explorer, how is your mission going?"

He sends the basket. A few minutes later, Théo replies!

Jules opens the message: "Mission accomplished! I slept without a light. And you?"

Jules laughed. He wrote: "Me too! Are you ready for new adventures?"

He sends the message and goes to bed. He thinks about everything he has experienced: his magic lamp, the sounds of the house, the stars with his grandfather, his night at Leo's, and Theo making progress.

He overcame his fear of the dark!

He turns off the light. He feels calm.

He wrote in his notebook:
Night is not an enemy.
Every noise has an explanation.
Helping others is important.

Jules closes his eyes. Tonight, he sleeps soundly. The night holds no more secrets for him.

Jules closes his notebook and stretches with satisfaction. Just a few weeks ago, he dreaded the night. Now, he has learned to tame it, to understand its sounds and shadows. He can even sleep in total darkness!
And most importantly, he helped Theo do the same.

Tonight, as he's getting ready for bed, he glances out the window. Theo's window, right across the hall, is ajar. Jules smiles. He grabs the little string attached to the basket they've placed between their two rooms. It's their secret messaging system!

He slipped in a piece of paper on which he had written:
"Night explorer, how is your mission going?"

He gently pulls on the rope to send the basket to Theo. A few minutes later, he feels a slight tug. Answer received!

Jules opens the paper impatiently:
"Mission accomplished! I slept without a light. And you?"

Jules laughed. They've become real night adventurers! He immediately wrote:
"Me too! Are you ready for more nighttime explorations?"

He sends the message back, then lies down on his bed. With his hands behind his head, he thinks back on everything he has experienced these past few weeks.

First, her first nights with the magic lamp. Then, the discovery of the sounds of her house: the creaking radiator, the wind in the trees, the cat on the roof.

He also remembers that magical evening when his grandfather taught him about the constellations. The Big Dipper, Cassiopeia, Orion... The stars became his friends.

And then there was that night at Leo's, his cousin, where he slept in an unfamiliar room. He was a little scared at first, but he got through it!

Now it's Théo's turn to progress, and Jules is proud to help him.

He realizes something important: he hasn't just conquered his fear of the dark. He has learned to see the night differently, as a fascinating world to explore.

He turns off the light and stares at the darkened ceiling. He no longer feels anxiety. Just calm and serenity.

Before closing his eyes, he grabs his notebook one last time and writes his notes:
-Night is not an enemy, it is a world to discover.
-Every shadow, every sound has an explanation.
-Sometimes, facing a fear also allows you to help others.

He puts down his pen, smiles one last time and closes his eyes.

That night, Jules slept peacefully. The night held no more secrets for him, and this thought filled him with pride and joy.

Jules closes his notebook and stretches with satisfaction. Just a few weeks ago, he dreaded the night. The shadows on the walls terrified him, every noise made him jump, and the idea of sleeping without a nightlight seemed impossible.

Today, everything has changed. He has learned to tame the night, to understand its mysterious noises, to observe its fascinating shadows, and even to sleep in total darkness.

And most importantly, he helped Théo, his neighbor and friend, to do the same.

Tonight, as he's getting ready for bed, he glances out of his bedroom window. Theo's window, just across the street, is ajar. A light breeze stirs the curtains. Jules smiles, thinking about how their friendship has grown stronger.

He grabs the small string attached to a basket they installed a few days ago between their two bedrooms. It's a veritable secret messaging system, an invention they're very proud of! The basket slides along the string stretched between the two windows.

Jules slipped in a piece of paper on which he had written with his favorite pen:
"Night explorer, how is your mission going?"

He gently pulls on the rope to send the basket to Theo's house. The small basket slowly crosses the space between the two houses, swaying lightly in the evening air.

A few minutes later, Jules felt a slight tug on the string. Answer received! His heart beat a little faster with excitement.

He pulls the basket towards him and eagerly opens the paper:
"Mission accomplished! I slept all night without a light. And you?"

Jules laughed with happiness. They had become true adventurers of the night, explorers of the darkness! He still remembered the day when Théo had confessed to him, a little embarrassed, that he too was afraid of the dark.

Jules immediately wrote his reply:
"Me too! Are you ready for more nighttime explorations? We could watch the shooting stars next week!"

He sends the message back with a big smile, then lies comfortably on his bed. With his hands behind his head, he stares at the ceiling and reflects on everything he's experienced these past few weeks. What a journey!

He remembers his very first nights with the magic lamp that projected stars onto the ceiling. At first, he kept it on all night. Then, little by little, he learned to turn it off.

Then there was that memorable evening when he decided to identify all the noises in his house. The radiator creaking as it cooled, the wind making the tree branches squeak against the gutter, the cat walking on the roof, the refrigerator humming in the kitchen... Every noise had its explanation, and the imaginary monsters had disappeared.

He also fondly remembers that magical evening he shared with his grandfather. Together, they had observed the stars for hours. His grandfather had taught him to recognize the constellations: the Big Dipper with its seven bright stars, Cassiopeia which resembles a W, Orion the hunter with its belt of three stars... The stars had become his friends, his landmarks in the night.

And then there was that weekend at Leo's, his cousin who lives in the countryside. Jules had slept in a room he didn't recognize, with different noises and unusual shadows. He'd been a little scared at first, it's true, but he'd remembered everything he'd learned. He'd breathed calmly, identified the new sounds, and observed the shadows until he understood them. And he was done with it.It was out! That night had been a real victory.

Now it's Théo's turn to progress in his own nocturnal adventure, and Jules is immensely proud to be able to help him. He lent him his magic lamp, explained his techniques, and encouraged him day after day.

Upon reflection, Jules realizes something important: he hasn't just conquered his fear of the dark. He has learned to see the night differently, as a fascinating and peaceful world to explore, full of wonderful mysteries rather than imaginary dangers.

The night is no longer her enemy. It has become her ally, almost a friend.
He gets up, goes to the light switch, and turns off the light with a confident gesture. He goes back to bed and stares at the darkened ceiling. He gradually makes out familiar shapes: the beam, the corner of the wall, the shadow of the bedside lamp.

He no longer feels anguish. No more fear. Just calm, serenity, and even a certain pride.

Before closing his eyes for good, he briefly switched on his small bedside lamp, grabbed his notebook from the nightstand, and wrote his last notes of the day, as he did every night now:
-Night is not an enemy, it is a world to discover.
-Every shadow, every noise has a rational explanation.
-Sometimes, facing a fear also helps others to face theirs.
-Courage is not about not being afraid, it's about moving forward despite fear.

He puts his pen back on the table, gently closes his notebook, turns off the lamp and smiles one last time in the darkness.

That night, Jules slept peacefully, deeply, serenely. The night held no more secrets for him, and this thought filled him with immense pride and quiet joy.

Outside, the stars are shining. In the room opposite, Théo is also sleeping peacefully. And Jules is already dreaming of their next nighttime adventures.
Fear of the dark? That's now a thing of the past.
